Interview: Logica – Revealing its true self
In keeping with its hands-on management style, Logica France seeks to form direct ties with students.
Its involvement as a previous partner of the CDMGE Academic Challenge bears out its aim to reveal the true personality of the company. Here are some explanations from Fabrice Losson, Hiring and Corporate Responsibility Director at Logica France.
Logica (formerly known as Unilog) is a leading European player in its three business lines: management consulting, systems integration, and business line or IS outsourcing. It has 40,000 employees worldwide, including 9,000 in France. It has long held a policy of developing close relationships with students through an extensive network of campus managers and employees that represent the company at their former schools. Logica stands out for its educational contributions to several establishments by organising and delivering courses and workshops.
A people-oriented, fun company
Our participation is motivated by the success of the first event and the originality of the concept. Logica has noticed that more students turn out to events that are sponsored by several partners – all the more so for the Challenge, since its corporate partners are varied and complement one another. The fun and games nature of the event is another attractive point for Fabrice Losson. By having our employees speak about our business lines and company at a fun sports event, we can show an often little-known side of our company, the human, informal side. That is the type of genuine relationship we want to cultivate with students this year.
What is the spirit behind the competition of Logica employees in sports events?
The 80 to 100 employees participating in the Challenge are all volunteers. What counts is taking part and having fun. Some will be mentors for students competing in the sports, and as such, will form close working ties on a basis of informal, healthy competition. Additionally, team spirit, endurance and tenaciousness are also reminiscent of the business culture our employees move in. At the disabled sports demonstrations and round tables on disability, we will be able to talk about our initiatives aimed at integrating the disabled. For example, in 2007 we signed a corporate agreement aimed at welcoming disabled employees and raising team awareness. It is one aspect of Logica's corporate social responsibility policy, created by managers at the ground level, and we pledge to follow it.
What is the message you want to convey during the Logica company atmosphere presentation?
We like welcoming the students, still in their sports outfits, between two events. The "stadium" atmosphere carries right through to the forum, creating a friendly setting that encourages dialogue. We want to fill students in on how corporate values are concretely handled in RH management. Logica pays close attention to how its new employees fit in. We provide hands-on management, assistance and training throughout their career. We encourage our employees to grow in their respective business areas (management consulting, solutions consulting, project management, retail) or to take advantage of bridges between these areas for professional growth. Imitative and innovation are highly valued and encouraged as keys to development, both for our employees and for Logica.
