How to form a team?

To be eligible for the CDMGE Academic Challenge, your team must have the proper number of school delegates for each of the events. To give you an idea of what this entails, last year's teams counted 15 to 30 students from each school or university, including the mixed men's and women's football team.

Each team must include at least 3 women.

Regular practice of track and field is not required. The Challenge is also intended to provide an introduction to track and field and help you discover the sport's various disciplines while developing team spirit between people of various backgrounds.

Each team must compete in all 10 events. With the exception of the 800 m and the 3000 m (see below), both men and women of any team may compete in the individual events. However, since the women's events generally have fewer participants, they may be advantageous for some.
There are considerable team penalties for being absent from an event, whereas taking last place in an event does not entail any penalties.

Please note the following important event information:
- The 800 m is for women
- The 1,500 m is for men
- The 4 x 100 m relay is for men (4 team members)
- The 10 x 200 m relay is mixed (the first 2 relays are run by women). You may run in several relays, but not consecutively in the same relay.
- The 10 km relay is run by a team of at least 5 people (the first and last relays are run by women).
-For the football tournament, teams must be made up of 7 players including 2 replacements. Each school may send one men's and one women's team. The members of the football team may compete in the other decathlon events if there are no scheduling conflicts (the schedule will only be communicated on the day of the Challenge).

"I was pleasantly surprised by the organisation of the CDMGE Academic Challenge"
Mathieu Caressa, élève à Polytechnique

"I am an active member of an FFA track and field club. In fact, I competed in the French Youth Championships in 2005 at Stade Charléty. From a sports point of view, the quality of organisation of the CDMGE Academic Challenge was identical. The "plus" was obviously the large number of supporters and the fun atmosphere in the stands. Even the inclusion of cheerleaders and brass bands was reminiscent of a championship! My win in the high jump made other students from my school want to participate in the Challenge this year."
